Viraf Mehta joining Prakruthi and SANSAR

With immense pleasure we would like to inform you that Mr. Viraf M Mehta, has joined Prakruthi as Director, Corporate Responsibility Initiatives, and will be involved in developing the activities of SANSAR. Viraf is a global expert on corporate responsibility and sustainable development. He has been the main leader in the development of corporate responsibility movement in South Asia for the last three decades.

He has been a mentor and guide to many CSR professionals. In his new role, he will be developing the capacity of Prakruthi as well as other partner CSO’s to engage with complex and rapidly changing world of corporate responsibility and sustainable development. We are hopeful that his leadership will allow Prakruthi to engage with sustainability issues not only in India but also in the immediate neighbourhood of South and South East Asia, which in the recent years have seen huge Indian corporate and government investments.

Viraf Mehta continues to serve as a member of several key national and international Governmental and non-governmental initiatives in the field of corporate responsibility, with a special focus on the human rights and business interface. Over the past decade, these have included, The Global Compact, The Global Reporting Initiative, OECD Guidelines, IFC CAO, ISO 26000, the SRSG Mandate, the Credibility Alliance, to mention a few.

He was a member of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs appointed drafting committee for the recently released ‘National Guidelines for the Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business”, and is a member of the Disclosure Framework Committee constituted by the Ministry.

Mr. Mehta is also working independently as an Advisor to the Centre for Responsible Business at GIZ, and Country Coordinator of the Responsible and Accountable Garment Sector (RAGS) Project.
